Nissan car airbag systems can present the fault code “B1408 Control Unit Inside” when an internal fault develops within the airbag control module. Some diagnostic computers may give the fault definition as an “Internal Error” or “Internal Defect” and this fault affects many Nissan models including Qashqai & Xtrail.
Once this fault occurs the airbag control module will need repair or replacement as they are uniquely coded to the vehicle which can be costly, running into hundreds of pounds.
